Llano River – 81 cfs @ Junction, 179 cfs @ Mason, 300 cfs @ Llano.
The Llano has seen quite a bit of rain recently and it has greatly helped the daily flow rates in the lower river. Fishing has been astounding as of late and we have been catching a wide variety of different species. Sunfish and bass are our primary catches but each trip is not without a few other incidental species that show up from time to time, such as drum, gar, catfish, and carp. We have been tearing the bass up on Chris’s Antelope Hair Bugs, which we now stock, and Matt’s Llano Critter. The sunfish have been butchering our Brushy Creek Spider in Olive and Rainy’s Grand Hopper in yellow. If you can’t get the sunfish to take a top water, which is extremely rare, just drop below the surface with one of Jim’s Damsel Nymphs and it will get the job done. We even had a nice Freshwater Drum take a damsel recently which further proves that a damsel nymph can catch almost any local species!
Recommended Flies: LWFF’s Matt’s Llano Critter, LWFF’s Jim’s Damsel, LWFF’s Brushy Spider, LWFF’s Antelope Hairbug, LWFF’s Foxy Clouser.
